# HighLevel Workflow Maps: What It Is, Why It Matters and How to Use It (Founder Plan)

> Workflow Maps draws a live map of every workflow in a sub-account, grouped by folder, with the tags, forms, calendars, pipelines and custom fields around them. It shows how one automation triggers the next, so you can see chains like form → workflow → tag → second workflow without opening each one. It includes 2D and 3D views, contact journey tracing, failed-execution troubleshooting, a Cleanup tool, and an AI assistant that can explain, organize and even build workflows.

HighLevel's description: "View, manage, and troubleshoot your workflows from a 3D, birds-eye view."

## Why it matters
Most agencies inherit accounts with dozens of overlapping workflows nobody fully understands. Workflow Maps shows what fires when, where a contact got stuck, and what breaks if you change something, which cuts troubleshooting time and makes handovers safe.

## How to take advantage of Workflow Maps
1. Open a client account you didn't build and use the map to document how leads flow before you change anything.
2. Run Cleanup to find default-named workflows, workflows with no recent enrollments and empty folders, then archive the clutter.
3. When a lead says they never got a message, trace that contact's journey across workflows and open the failed step.
4. Ask the AI assistant to explain a workflow or create a folder structure, and review its proposed changes before approving them.

## Top questions
### What are Workflow Maps in HighLevel?
A visual map of all workflows in a sub-account and the assets that connect them, generated automatically from your existing automations. You can pan, zoom, switch between 2D and 3D, trace a contact's journey and see failed executions.

### Who can use Workflow Maps?
HighLevel lists Workflow Maps as a Founder Plan feature. At launch, HighLevel's changelog says access is limited to agency users and agency admins, and each sub-account has its own map.

### Can the Workflow Maps AI assistant build workflows?
Yes. It can explain workflows, filter the map, create folders, move or rename workflows, add notes, and build or edit workflows as background jobs. You review proposed changes, and deletions always need confirmation.

## Using AI agents with Workflow Maps
Pair Workflow Maps with an outside agent's audit: have Claude Code pull workflow data through the HighLevel MCP server, then use the map to confirm what it finds before cleaning up.
